Why S-wave headings suit Nettex Bali Style Curtains
S-wave (also called S-fold or wave fold) is the heading most of our clients choose for Bali style curtains. The fabric is not pinched or gathered into sewn pleats. It runs in an even, repeating S-shape along a purpose-built track, so every fold is the same width from one end of the window to the other.
Bali fabric is a 330 cm wide linen-look sheer. That extra width is what makes the curtain heading work so well. On most residential sliding doors and living-room runs we can keep joins to a minimum, and the slubbed weave has enough body to hold the wave instead of collapsing into a flat sheet.

S-wave needs a dedicated track. It is not a rod heading. If you already have a decorative rod and want to keep it, we will talk you through pinch pleat or eyelet instead. For new work on large glass, S-wave is the default we recommend.
Nettex Bali Sheer Curtains
Bali by Nettex is the fabric we specify most often for sheers in Sydney homes and offices. It is a 100% polyester linen-look weave with a weighted hem, tested for flame retardancy to AS/NZS 1530.3. The look is relaxed and slightly slubbed — closer to washed linen than to a shiny voile — without the creasing and fading that real linen brings to a north or west-facing window.
Snow is the colour in several of the installations on this page: a clean, cool white that reads as soft rather than stark once it is hanging in daylight. Chalk, Pearl, Cloud, Driftwood and the greys (Ash, Smoke, Storm, Thunder) are the other shades we sample most in Strathfield, the Inner West and the eastern suburbs.

Layered curtains: Bali sheer with blockout
A sheer on its own filters daylight and takes the edge off glare. It does not give you a dark bedroom at 6am, and it does not give you privacy after the lights go on at night. That is why a lot of our curtain jobs are a double track: Bali S-wave in front, a blockout curtain or a blockout roller behind.
The bedroom installation pictured pairs a Bali sheer with an Avoca blockout. Same window, two jobs. During the day the sheer is the only layer you see. At night, or for shift sleep, the blockout draws across on its own track. We can also specify a Nettex blockout range (Galaxy, Havana, Soleil or similar, depending on current stock) made up on the same S-wave heading so both layers stack and travel the same way.

Because we are an independent supplier, we are not locked to one manufacturer. If a window is better served by a different cloth, we will say so and sample it.

S-wave, S-fold and wave fold are names for the same contemporary heading. The fabric is held by evenly spaced carriers on a dedicated track so it falls in a continuous S-shaped wave. There are no sewn pinch pleats. It is the heading we recommend for Nettex Bali sheers.
No. Bali is a 100% polyester linen-look sheer. That is the point: you get the slubbed, washed-linen appearance with a weighted hem, wide 330 cm width and a flame-retardant rating that linen does not give you.
Not on its own. During the day it diffuses the view in. After dark, with internal lights on, you will be visible from outside. Pair it with a blockout curtain or a blockout roller if the room needs night privacy or darkness.
